View along Orchard Road
So I landed in Singapore yesterday, after a 2 hour flight delay in Hong Kong, making my travel time from Phoenix a total of 30.5 hours. I was so tired and in need of a shower that I did not even notice the humidity of this monsoon period. Instead the first place I rushed to was to grab some won ton mee and won ton soup. All my luggage showed up intact, even the overweight confiscated roller I had as hand luggage with all my electronics still inside. Both in Phoenix and LAX the security guys had to do a manual check and rolled their eyes at the amount of electronics and cables I had crammed into the small roller. Today I managed to cram in local delights (food) from nasi lemak to Hokkien prawn mee, chendol and rendang. The waistline was not a concern today...hehe. I met up with a friend in Orchard Road
over lunch and then strolled the streets to catch a glimpse of the Christmas decos and browse the electronics at Lucky Plaza.
Ice cream sandwich stand along Orchard Road
The one thing which was a newbie this time around was the Walls ice cream stands along Orchard Road which sold ice cream sandwiches. You chose your flavor and a slab of ice cream in served in a multi colored bread or wafer - your choice...I had durian flavored ice cream...yum. Another thing I noticed today was all cars in Singapore are parked reversed in - not head in. I was told it is because if you park head in, you will never get out, since no one will make way for you. Unlike the US, drivers here don't stop for you. All in all, it was an interesting day. Off to Manado tomorrow...
