Mt. Sunday

After the morning cruise, I had just enough light left in the day to make the long drive to Mount Sunday, the location used by Peter Jackson to film the city of Edoras in Lord of the Rings (second movie).  It is such a desolate and starkly beautiful setting that it seemed made for the part.  The drive was a tortuous few hours on both paved and gravel roads and the wind in that valley location has to be felt to be believed.   I had originally planned to camp there in that beautiful setting my last night, but opted instead for a motel closer to airport for my morning flight home.
