After a leisurely breakfast, we got on the road toward Virginia around 11am. We had to stop at Walgreens and CVS trying to find Laura a particular brand of film she needed to finish a photography project due next week, so I took advantage of the opportunity to buy some gummie candy! Mmmmmmmm....
Just over the VA line we found gas for $1.63 (!!!) so I filled up there... can't remember the last time anyone sold gas for that cheap!
Once we hit the Blue Ridge we drove north, into VA, and made our way along... stopped at multiple overlooks along the way, but the trees have grown up so much that on most overlooks it's hard to see anything anymore! Beautiful, freezing cold weather with a clear blue sky today.
We made a stop at Mabry Mill. I must have been there a million times (okay maybe more like 8 or 10), but this was the first time I'd seen it frozen over! The pond was almost frozen, and the chutes of water had sheets of ice, almost like a wall, along the whole length! Very.
Mom and I both had to use the bathroom, but they were closed for the winter, and Mom ended up finding a sunny spot hidden by underbrush and used nature's toilet .... brrrr! I chose to wait, but later on I ended up doing the same near another closed bathroom at Rocky Knob.
We came home and had a home cooked meal, then made another fire to enjoy for the night! Jesse cut Laura's hair a little, and then we tried making White Hot Chocolate (http://www.recipezaar.com/White-Hot-Chocolate-15904) and it was delicious!! That recipe will save me many dollars this season. :)
