Got up early and... we felt the heat!! Goodbye winter, welcome summer! We ran to breakfast and found the traditional Costa Rica's Breakfast : Gallopinto.
It was just delicious and it seemed like lunch :) We had Rice and beans mixed together (it makes a difference!), scrambled eggs, meat and some other kind of beans, cheese, potatoes, toasts and fruit..and of course, black coffee!
With our stomachs full, we got into our Daihatsu Terios and started our journey, heading to the Arenal Volcano. First, it took us one hour to find the way out of San Jose... :)) uhhh..messy streets...After we did, we started looking for the famous Tropical Bungee...and there it was, right next to Naranjo on the right, after 30 kms :)
55 USD and some emotions later, we left to Arenal...
Bumpy road! It took us 4 hours to do 120 kms... welcome to the bumpy roads of Costa Rica. It was around 4h30 pm when we saw the volcano...wow! really amazing!
We heard that we could do a night walk to the volcano, so we ran to La Fortuna trying to find a tourist office, where we could book one....but all we got was a night walk (3kms) on the hanging bridges, through the rain forest...
Just very glad we did that, even though i was terrified with the fact that there are around 133 species of snakes in Costa Rica, and that we could find many on those trails.....:s The moon was full and we could perfect see the small eruptions of lava on the volcano from a hanging bridge, 45 mts high! Just amazing...a "memorable moment"
We fpollowed the advice of our jungle guide and went to dinner at "la chouza de Laurel" where we had a great casado.
Casado is a typical dish in Costa RIca, with beans and rice (not together!), nachos, potatoes (papas), salad (ensalada) and chicken (pollo) or pig (cerdo) or beef (carne) with some sauce...it's delicious!!
Went to sleep...it was a day full of emotions! :)
