While most people travel to sight-see, there is a select group of travellers who travel to shop. (My mum is one of them.) If you know me from Melbourne, you might wonder how the clothes seem to just appear in my cupboard every February, as I rarely shop in Australia. Well, South East Asia is the answer, and here are all my retail secrets revealed!

Hong Kong, Hong Kong!

There is something about Hong Kong that makes the ladies in Singapore go ga-ga.

You'd think I was talking about some famous chinese guy but really Hong Kong is a unique city, one that unfortunately I don't remember much about seeing I was in kindergarten when I lived there, heh! I have been back, but only to watch the Rugby Sevens (absolutely recommended!). As I was too busy stuffing my face with fries and singing along with other suitably smashed supporters I didn't exactly get around to going shopping!

But the annual pilgrimmage that my mum and her sisters make (all four of them) suggests Hong Kong is really some sort of Mecca for shopping. The summer sale is usually what lures the hordes up there and apparently cheap flight and accommodation deals from Singapore make the allure of Hong Kong difficult for most ladies to resist!
