River Valley ...... getting really close to each other.

River Valley is one of those stops of the Kiwibus that I didn't have on my personal itinerary but I kind of liked it. River Valley is in the middle of nowhere (20km of Taihape). I don't even know the exact location of this place on the map. We stayed at a hostel called River Valley Adventure Lodge. This hostel looks really nice but the dorms are ..... well, weird. Each dorm room has sixteen sleeping places. You basically sleep with three others really close to each other. So if you roll a lot during your sleep, you might up lying next to someone else (think of the spooning position). I wouldn't have mind if a really hot lady was sleeping next to me but this person next to me is called Andrew. I didn't move all night long.
Before we went to River Valley, we walked on the south side of the Tongariro National Park.
There are two major activities you can do in River Valley. The first one is horse riding. The landscape in River Valley is beautiful and the best way to explore this area is on a horse. The horse track is long and it takes about four hours to get back to the hostel. The second major activity is rafting on the Rangitikei River. It's a grade 5 white water rafting. I have to admit, I did neither of these activities. I have my reasons for that which will be explained in one of my next blogs.
I've only walked around the area which was very nice. That night was also the first time I've seen a satellite in the sky. It was very dark at night so the sky was covered with stars. Someone tried to show me the Southern Cross but I just couldn't see where it is (sorry Amber). I didn't know which stars form the Southern Cross but I do know now.
River Valley is a very nice place to unwind after the adrenaline filled activities in Taupo. It's also a big contrast with the buzzing city Wellington.
