After setting the time for breakfast with Rachelle, we got ready and headed off for some breakfast. The main dining room (there is only two in the resort; the other restaurant is require reservation) is where all three meals are served buffet style. It is an open air dining area with an amazing view! The entire time we were eating, we were gazing out to the sea, in awe and mesmerized by it.
After a hearty breakfast, we walked around the small resort to familiarize ourselves with what we can do while staying there. The Royal Decameron Montego Bay is an all-inclusive beach resort and hotel. It is a relatively small and older resort hotel. Well-maintained by their very friendly staff. On one side is a long, two-story building where our rooms are located. The central part of the resort is where the club, restaurant, jacuzzi, stage, main dining hall, outdoor bar, and reception are located. On the other end is a 5-story building connected with the reception hall. A heated pool, another regular pool with a swim bar, lounging area with shades, and volleyball is also located. There are 2 areas where a small stretch of sand is available.
The resort has its own travel agency where you can book sightseeing activities. We wanted to do something else outside the resort so after a meeting with the agent and discussion with friends, we decided to go to Negril and Ocho Rios on our last 2 days, but first, enjoy the resort, just relax, and woorship the sun, sky, and the water!
For three hours, we sunbathe, frolicked in the waters, and since Finelle is more of a camwhore than I was, took pictures of everything and all of us every single minute, the whole effin' day! We took a break for lunch, made reservations for dinner that night at their only restaurant, while the guys returned to our room for some 'green' session.
Rainy clouds rolled in towards the end of the afternoon, bringing in light showers and lightning visible from far away. June to November is Jamaica's storm season so showers were expected from time to time. But I didn't mind. I love seeing rain in a tropical country.
When the rain stopped, we went back to our rooms to shower and change for dinner. One of the hotel staff told us that there is a party at Pier One just 15 minutes away from the resort. A shuttle will be picking up guests at 10pm and 11pm, and they will also provide a shuttle back to the hotel at 2am and 3am. How awesome is that! So we added that to our plans for the night.
We watched the show after dinner and had more drinks before the shuttle came to pick us up at the hotel. There were quite a few of us who went, and when we arrived, the club was already 3/4 full! It was an open air bar/club, with two floors and a big bar area in the middle. By midnight, the place was packed! It was difficult to pass and with shots and mixed drinks, we were all buzzed. That jagermeister was just plain gross at the end. Damn Rachelle! Next thing we knew, it was 2am and we took the shuttle home. Finelle and I were a bit loud since we were teasing Rachelle and RP, and one of the guys in the shuttle reprimanded us.
We arrived at the hotel, tired. I wanted to go for a night swim but none of them wanted to join me. So I went alone. Since our room was one the 1st floor at the very end, there is a small area of sand were we can easily access the waters. When Kris fell quickly to sleep while Finelle watched tv and said she'll stay up to wait for me to come back. I stayed out in the water for 45 minutes, enjoying the night, the quiet with the rhythmic ebb and flow of the waves, the moon providing some light, and on the horizon, lightning flashed. it was quite a sight and an experience. I retired for the night after a shower.
