Tue Had muffins at a corner store. Coffee was too small, 7-11 fixed that. Took pictures of volvos for my nephews; volvo taxis and even a volvo hearse. We wander around the waterfront and see a park being set up for a "taste of Stockholm" food samplings, music too. We get a 10:30 boat ride for an hour which was really great, enjoyable and informative. English available on the headphones provided. A free WC was appreciated, have to pay anywhere else! We then hung out at the Royal Palace until the 30 minute changing of the guard happens. Light blue team swaps out with the dark blue team complete with band, drums and lots of ordering and marching back and forth. We thot there would be horses but were none. Not today. Quite the (free) show!
Then off to nearby old town for awesome lasagna lunch (pizza for J) and a nice stroll around the area dating back to the 1300's. It's really nice to explore this island of the original city with it's many shops and fun places to eat. After that, we head back via the pedway to the room back at 3pm. More girls in sundresses that show every available inch of leg. One Beautiful day!!
Relaxed in the room for a few hours, then went out for the "taste" which wasn't tonite at all. Walked around noticing more foreigners with dark hair and strange languages. Ended up with a shrimp salad from 7-11. The city is dead for no apparent reason, and hostel is quiet. A group of Chinese businessmen strangely are staying here and are smoking and talking in the outside patio area. Some women with scarves are downstairs sitting, and J reports from his ritual evening shower that it looked like guys were plotting something with earphones plugged into computer. Our 4rth guy here arrived from Romania. Seems nice enough, english really good. Some folks downstairs cook up some Nasty-smelling food. Romanian guy comes in drunk late, makes up bed and makes lots of noise. I put earplugs in.
