A trip to Yellowstone requires more than just a half day drive like I did, and I'm sure there are better blogs solely about the area. On the day I was there the flags were at half mast since a park ranger in another state died fighting a fire. From the entrance, I followed the road in a counterclockwise direction, stopping frequently along the way. It got frustrating, since I knew I only had a short time there, but there was always something compelling you to pull over and stop. It was hours before I even got to Old Faithful. That's an incredible geyser. Steam comes out while it is dormant. When it does blow, there is no fanfare, no music, no rumbling of any time, just a quiet blast of water. It's amazing that after so many years, it still sticks to its schedule.
