On July 4, 2008 I had the opportunity to drive back from North Carolina to my home in California . Instead of driving straight back like I did on the way to NC, I planned a long road trip to see as much of the US as possible. It came out to 31 days, 10,000 miles, and the experience of a lifetime. My main destinations were theme parks, but I made other stops as well. You never know what you will find along the road

Mamba, with the Cedar Fair's staple 'coasters' in the front

Oddly this is the only park where I bought a ticket online instead of at the gate. World's of Fun is also owned by Cedar Fair, and in pretty good shape. Their new rollercoaster is a spinning coaster, and although spinning usually makes me sick, this one wasn't so bad. Their large steel coaster is called Mamba. The train ride has an unusual layout. I didn't have any plans to go here, but since I altered my road trip to see family, Kansas City ended up along the way, so I made a pit stop here. It wasn't very crowded so I managed to see all I wanted to and leave early. I know many viewers will question spending that much money to race through a theme park in under two hours, but the other option was to pass it up and never come back.
