Lake Okoboji
These small parks along the lake always sport a boat ride. The one outside Arnolds park you had to pay extra for. Usually they are about twenty minutes long, but this boat ride was nearly two hours! They tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the lake, and then keep telling you more. They tell you how deep the water is, a story about a sunken boat, some bison bones that were found on the surface, who lives in what house, and the entire history of the entire area. To make a long story short, the Iowa Great Lakes is the farthest south the glaciers went. If you are a college student and want to write a paper on the lakes, take the boat ride. Incidentally, the original boat went to sail the Adventureland river, but is no longer in use there.
Also next to Arnold's Park Is Bob's Hot Dogs, home to their homemade Bob Dog, A record museum that costs $1, Blue Bunny Ice Cream, which is big in the area, and the Lake Musem, where you can learn all about the history of Arnold's Park, the history of the lake, the wreckage of the sunken boat they tell you about on the boat ride, and a story of the bison bones which doesn't match what they say on the boat ride. What started out to be a one hour trek to a tiny amusement park ended up taking half of the day. So, if you are interested in renting a vacation home for a week along a large lake with a lot of recreational activity, next time think 'Iowa'
