On July 4, 2008 I had the opportunity to drive back from North Carolina to my home in California . Instead of driving straight back like I did on the way to NC, I planned a long road trip to see as much of the US as possible. It came out to 31 days, 10,000 miles, and the experience of a lifetime. My main destinations were theme parks, but I made other stops as well. You never know what you will find along the road

This is the third of the hundred year old trolley parks still alive and well in Pennsylvania. I got there around 4 p.m. The rain had stopped by then.

It's currently owned by Cedar Fair, which along my trip has proven to have better parks than Six Flags. the park was incredibly modern, clean, and well run. Unfortunately, unlike the other hundred year old trolley parks I have visited, there is very little evidence that this park has been around for a hundred years. I was on the lookout for nostalgia and sadly couldn't find any here. It's still a good park, just modern. The rollercoaster Hydra has an unusual beginning, as you can see in the photo. Their new coaster Voodoo, had long lines and subject to 'new ride breakdowns', so I skipped it. I spent the night in a hotel nearby.
