Black Hills Scenic Railroad

On July 4, 2008 I had the opportunity to drive back from North Carolina to my home in California . Instead of driving straight back like I did on the way to NC, I planned a long road trip to see as much of the US as possible. It came out to 31 days, 10,000 miles, and the experience of a lifetime. My main destinations were theme parks, but I made other stops as well. You never know what you will find along the road

Black Hills Scenic Railroad

If you have some time in the area you can take the Black Hills Scenic Railroad trip through the mountains. Unfortunately, my whirlwhind trip didn't allow for the time, and this became the second train trip I had to pass up, so I settled for taking a few photos around the station. While I was there, the train they use was taking a trip, so I wasn't able to get a photo of it. The problem with scenic rail trips of  these sorts is that they are just too time consuming for a road trip such as mine, and you have to be there at a specific time as well.
