The tour today was the downtown route, heading south thru Times Square and past the Empire State Building. They recently closed the top observation floor of the ESB, so we decided not to get off there. We got off in Greenwich Village and had brunch at a little Mexican place. Then we walked to a famous spot to take a photo at the entrance to Washington Square. After the photo op we got back on the bus and rode down to the World Trade Center site.
There was no observation platform at the construction site where they are rebuilding the WTC buildings. We walked around the 8 ft fence and found a spot to take a few pictures, but we didn't get much of a view.
We walked thru the financial district, down Wall Street to the shore, taking pictures as we went. The East River was a nice place to take pictures and the sun was out by then. We got a few good shots of the Brooklyn Bridge, then got back on the next tour bus.
The tour continued up past the United Nations building with some peek-a-boo views of the Chrysler building. They let us off at Rockefeller Center and we went to the Top of the Rock. The 69th floor has awesome views of most of Manhattan, so we got lots of great photos there. We got some of a cruise ship heading out to sea too, so that will work well with shots we take from the ship tomorrow.
On our way back to the hotel we navigated to the Warwick hotel using my trusty GPS. Kate used to work there many years ago, so we took some photos outside and in the lobby. Lin got a few brochures.
We walked the 10 blocks back to our hotel and had dinner next door at a great Thai place. After a quick slideshow of the days photos Kristy headed back to her apartment and we relaxed for the evening. Tomorrow we depart for the cruise terminal late in the morning for an eventual 4pm sail away.
