In the morning we got a leisurely start and made our way to the box office to get tickets for an evening performance of a play I had researched.  They only had seats on the sides left, but they turned out to be ok, as we were only about 30 feet from the stage.

We walked a block or two to the double decker bus tour place and got a 48 hr pass to ride the narrated bus around the city.  The first section was up the west side and we got off at the Natural History museum and watched a movie on Cosmic Collisions in the Hayden Planetarium.

After a short tour of the gift shop we walked across Central Park, using the GPS to guide us, and made our way to Kristy's apartment.  She has a 19th floor apartment with a fabulous view of the city and the east river.

She has access to the roof where you can see even more, and its big enough to hold parties of 50 or more.  She shares the flat with 2 other girls, who work elsewhere.  Kristy works from her apartment, doing project management for her online marketing company.

We had lunch at a nearby pub, Fetch, and then walked to the Gugenheim and caught the tour bus heading south.  We rode it to Times Square.  Kristy had to get back to work, so we went on a bead store hunt.  Neither of the two stores Lin had researched were still there, so we wasted about 30 minutes and a mile of walking.  But we did find an awesome deli about 3 blocks from our hotel.

In the evening we met Kristy and her long time friend Kelly for drinks and then we went to the play.  All My Sons is an Arthur Miller play with John Lithgow and Katie Holmes.  It also stars Dianne Wiest, who you might remember from The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Gene Hackman.  It was an intense play about a father that had made a mistake during WWII that caused the lives of many pilots, but he blamed the mistake on his business partner.  The play takes places a few years later when all the troubles come together.  It was well done, and we all liked it.

After the play the girls headed home and we walked back to that deli we had discovered and got a few late night snacks.  It was a good first tour day.
