When I Grow Up, I Wanna Be...

As a kid we all dream of various things that we wanted to be. I for one wanted to be Michealangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja/Hero Turtles. (I have yet to give up on this goal).
It seems odd how I went from crime fighting ninja in a half shell to an auditor. Of course, you´re right, they are somewhat similar careers. The only difference being that I am not a green turtle who is friends with a sexy news reporter for Channel 6 called April O´Neill.
Working on a building site was a new experience for me and most of the other volunteers. I am notoriously bad at hammering in nails vertically into the roof, yet I did eventually improve and redeem myself. I helped to finish two ceilings and put a good amount of input into installing the back door (not as straight forward as you might think).
My pride and glory, however, came with installing the floor in of the rooms. The girls had set concrete pillars down for me to get started with the support beams and the floorboards. Myself and Marie prepared and levelled the support beams. I was then given power tools to play around with. I mean I was given power tools to use in a strategic way t speed up the process with the intent of preparing the floorboards. Marie, Nicky & Veronica beasted away and hammered away each board. They said myself & Isken could take over when they tired.....Im still waiting!
There is no better feeling I know of than seeing the faces on the people whose home you have paid to build. It was so so rewarding. The family were so lovely and always let us know how happy we were making them. So much so that the mother of the house, Ida, insisted on filling us until we almost burst. The idea is to build a house so that they can build a home.
I had so much fun on this building site that I have started to believe that I may have missed my calling in life!
