I struck out for some adventure this weekend with my new friends. The Singhs' took me to the Jwalagarh Farm, their family estate. We took the canal road to bypass Meerut so I got to see wild monkeys and feed them. Those little guys are quick! The mamas had babies hanging off them and you could see who the dominate males were and who were the youngsters learning the rules. Big guys went first, females next, then the young males.
The farm was amazing. The village at the farm is slowly beginning to empty as younger people are moving to the city to find work. Very few motorized vehicles in sight, but lots of ox pulling carts, loaded down!
It was late in the day when we arrived and I was met by the mistress of the home and she formally welcomed me into their home. The cooks made an amazing meal and stared at me the entire time. A young man pushed his way into the home to show me he could speak English. So, I took some time to sit and talk to him and engage him in conversation. What a sweet kid.
We left after dinner and hit a HUGE traffic jam in Meerut. We took the regular road as the canal road is very dangerous at night. After 2 hours just sitting....off we went with no sign of why we sat for so long. It was interesting to say the least.
Of course, the monkeys were my favorite and they snatched bananas as quickly as I tossed them out the window. They seemed to love the monkey nuts too, so tossed those as well.
Not much to write, but a few pics to share!
