Tombstone -The Town Too Tough To Die ;o)
Tombstone – founded in 1879 and is nicknamed the Town Too Tough To Die.
Our first real destination for the meet-up. After our.. eh.. little stop at the art festival thingy, we actually were getting a bit behind the others, so they were kinda already there when we rode into town.
After parking the car, we met up in the dusty main street with the history whispering from all corners and it was awesome. I felt that I had traveled back in time and had it not been for our oh so modern clothing, the illusion would have been complete. But it was fun non the less...
Some decided to take a stage coach ride, while I went on a stroll with Mel and Melissa. We walked in the dusty street or on the wooden sidewalks, looked inside these old stores, saloons and cafés, shot pictures of what we saw and of each other.
We saw horses and horsemen, Wyatt Earp and his crew of gunmen, a couple doing some kind of horse show ( or they were advertising that they were gonna hold a show)
I'm a country girl as I think most people know by now, and I loved looking at the cowboy hats and stuff in the stores... just too bad that they had a “stupid” rule saying; not allowed to take pictures in the store... shoot. :o(
We had agreed, or Harriet had instructed us, that we had to be at the Longhorn restaurant at High Noon for lunch, so we all headed there. One by one, we found a place at the long table and sat down. We were quite a noisy bunch and the flashes from all the cameras must have blinded some of the nearest guests. There were constantly picture taking, and I think the “outsiders” would have been pretty tired of it after a little while... LOL
Donny and Robin also joined us at this point. And now it was....
Food time.. I didn't know what I really wanted, so I decided to try something new. Should really start writing down the name of new dishes I try, but of course I didn't and have forgotten what it was. It was something with fries for sure, but it was not a burger. At least I would have remembered that. ;o)
After lunch we all took to the street for a group photo, and again we looked for some innocent bystander to take our picture. Only, in difference from this morning, we got 2 of them to share all the cameras between them. A guy who had all the compact cams, and a girl who handled the more advanced ones like mine and Rosie's. They were really such sports and took a LOT of picture of us all. Darn, so many alike pictures – it's really quite crazy. HAHAHA
Now it was show time... some of us went to a storytelling show about different people and events that had taken place in Tombstone. It was an OK show and had a few good punching points, but I've seen better both in Old Tucson and in Rawhide back in -93. ;o)
After the show we walked around a little more. I think some took off for the OK! Coral and the rest just wandered around the main street, chatting, looking and simply just chillin'.
But all good things, must come to an end and it was time to leave this western town and head for Bisbee...
