This blog will capture my adventures in AZ and Cali. But also my preps for the trip. I started this blog October 2 and it will be continuously updatet till I'm back home again on November 30 :o)) Countdown; it's all over... :o( but I had a blast :o)

Dinner party at Erin's

eggyolks, sugar, flour, vanilla sugar and baking soda... ingredients for the "Worlds Best" cake

Erin had invited a bunch of people to a welcome dinner for me. So we started this day with going to the store and buy some food and cake ingridients. I had to get everything I needed to make the cake I had promised to make way before I even went to the states. And I had brought with me some of the ingredients, since I didn't know if I could find it here. Like boxes with vanilla cream. I made it all the way to San Fransisco Airport with them, but that was it. The damn customs dude took them from me. Okay, it was partly my fault for not packing them in my checked luggage, but geez.. it was CREAM and it hadn't been opened. WAAAAAAAAH...

Anyway; I had to try and find something similar. I looked for vanilla cream, but the nearest I came was vanilla frosting. Ummm.. ok, it had to be good enough.

eggwhites, more sugar and almond flakes? for the other half of the cake
So I found the rest of what I would need. Erin got everything she'd need to make the dinner and we headed home.

Erin started prepairing dinner and I started on my cake. The cake is really easy to make and it was basically done in no time. When it was done, it looked good.

Milt was the first one to arrive, then the guests kept coming. Kimberley, Lynn, Cindy, Bart and finally Tobias. Great crowd... Bart and Lynn are TB'ers, Tobias used to be, Cindy is Erins neighbor and Kimberly and Milt are other friends of Erins. Think she met them due to some wine group thingy. Awesome people...

Before dinner, we hung around the kitchen, drinking wine, chatting and laughing. And before we knew it, dinner was ready and it was time to eat.

can't forget the butter
. :o))
Dinner was AWESOME.. Erin did a great job cooking. :o) My cake was a success as well, although it turned out MUCH sweeter then it should have. But I'm happy everybody loved it... (Erin and Lynn; when you get here, I'll make it as it's supposed to be made and you'll love it even more.. promise... hehe)

Tobias was the first to leave the party, and the rest of us continued to have a great time. I think Cindy got a little too much wine, but she was incredibly sweet. She was funny when she took the dishes.. which was something that was perfectly normal for her to do when she'd been drinking a bit too much...lol

It was awesome meeting all these great people, and they all became good friends.  Can't wait to meet you all again...
