I can be a beach too, you know ;)
After having a heavy yummy breakfast in The Brig Restaurant in Dana Point, we drove around and headed off to Huntington beach. My family was so nice to accomodate this request of mine so I could meet our travbuddy friends who invited me over for a barbecue.
I quite enjoyed that scenic drive on Hi Way 1 (California State Route 1) as I was able to see the beautiful areas around Orange county and the beautiful Pacific coastline. It was lovely to see Laguna beach, New Port beach and finally the loooong stretch of Huntington beach.
My Dad and Mom dropped us off at around 2pm in the area in Huntington Beach where Angel said we would meet up.
Since the meetup was at 5pm, me and the Porkys spent some time on the beach. It was such a nice, new experience for me, as I was amused with this type of going to the beach to hang out. Because usually in Asia, the beaches will have resorts along the coastline. But here in California, I love it that there is a very wide sandy shore with no resorts you have to check in to, you just drive and park and spend the day at the beach. The weather was just nice, although it was a bit cloudy so there wasn't much sun and I didn't get a tan. The water was a bit cold at first but it becomes just nice after a few minutes. I really enjoyed being part of the crowd in the beach, I found it quite relaxing even if there were a lot of people. The downside of which though was of course, it was hard to find parking space and an available barbecue pit.
So when I got a text message from Angel to say that the meetup would be moved to another area of Huntington beach, much as I would've wanted to join them, I couldn't since my folks would just be picking us up in the same area they dropped us off. But it was nice to at least quickly met with Angel and Joshua, together with Angel's exchange student friend. We literally met half way in the middle of the shore, with me coming from the beach and them coming from the parking lot. It was really nice to have finally met Angel in person, she was so nice to have organized the barbecue and invited me over. It was also great to meet Joshua, our travbuddy friend from Pennsylvenia, who happened to be in the West during that time.It was such a nice, relaxing day. I just love being a beach...errm, I mean a beach person, that is. ;)
