who is knocking the door???
Yesterday I met Craig and we agreed that next day we'd try some rainforest's food. I knew about 2 restaurants in Lima, but have heard about a really tasty place in an open market near my house. I haven't ever been there, so this would be perfect opportunity to try it :P

I woke up early and started to work, so I'd be able to have some free time, hahaha. Since the market was in the nearby, Craig would come to my house. After knocking at somebody else's door, he finally found my house, actually the guardian at the street was the one who knocked the right door. I asked Craig what happened and he told me he had the wrong house number and was looking confused when the guardian asked him who he was looking for - in Spanish of course - and Craig just said: "mi amiga.
surprised, haha!!!
.." (my friend) - couldn't say much else in Spanish, lol. Jose, the guardian, didn't need to ask furthermore and knocked at my door. Why did Jose assume the foreign guy was looking for me??? hahaha

Ok, I was ready to leave. I wouldn't be driving, since I don't know about a safe place to park near the market... nevermind, we'd take a bus to make the experience even better, yay! I don't know if Craig noticed it, but I didn't have any clue if the bus we took was the right one, hahaha. I never go to that market... but the bus was the right one and left us just in front of the market. We crossed the street and we were there. The place is not a proper restaurant is just a place where you can eat. They have just few seats and all were taken, so we had to wait, but no problem at all.
at the market!!!

While we were waiting I started to tell Craig why I chose this place. First: I watched a tv show where a cheff who is always going to different restaurants recommended to try this place. Second: a friend from the gym recommended it to me too. A lady was next to us and she was the owner of the place. I started to talk to her and next thing she gave us a sample of "arroz chaufa con cecina" (fried rice with cecina - a sort of local bacon). We were treated like important guests, well we deserved it, hahaha. Not so many foreigners visit that area, so we were an attraction, hahaha. Then they gave us some banana chips and our seats were free!!! The place didn't have a menu, people know what they offer and you just have to ask for it. So I ordered for both of us. To drink a regional juice, yay! Food was delicious! Craig got a chicken Juane.
became best buddies
Juane is a traditional dish that is made of rice, chicken, olive, egg and cooked spices, everything wrapped with a plantain leaf and then boiled for about 1 1/2 hrs. I got a "tacacho". The tacacho is mashed plantain and I love it! Food was so tasty!!!!

After a delicious and cheap meal, we walked around the market. I even got cookies for Gunther ;) Everyone had something to do with Craig. He was the attraction there, hahaha. Then we started to walk in order to take a bus, but at the end we took a cab, hahaha. After bargain with the taxi driver, we were in our way to my house and 2nd stop of the day: Meeting Gunther!

Don't need to say they became friends instantly, hahaha. Gunther was so excited he was jumping and barking the whole time. He loves to meet people, like his mom :P They were playing and Gunther liked to chew Craig's hand.
the only way to keep him quiet, hahaha
.. I think he was spoiling Gunther, but well Gunther is the baby of the family, so it was fine. After a long photo session, we were ready to go... We had to give Gunther something, so he'd let us go...

We have been talking about what Craig could do after Lima, where to go, etc. And since he was desperate to surf again, he'd start his journey to the north. I had to pick my mom from work, but still have plenty of time. So we went to get his bus ticket. It was near my house, so it was very convenient. Then I drove him around another area of Lima and finally arrived to his hostel. I wouldn't be able to meet him later, since mom has Birthday and we'd have a family dinner, but we agreed to meet next day. He still had 1 day in Lima and I got an idea ;)
