Bangkok

Today we met in the lobby and we going to explore the city of Bangkok. Our first activity for the day was to take a long boat on one of the rivers and see the villages located along this canal network. Along the way we saw a lot of Komoto Dragon and we were able to feed the cat fish bread. There were literally hundreds of these fish. It was a site to see. We cruised a long the canals for a couple of hours before arriving at one the piers which was near our next stop, Wat Po (Reclining Buddha). After seeing this Buddha for the second time, Susan, Gerry and I decided to go and look at the Royal Palace, but the time we got there it was closed, so we continued on to a place called "Behind the Temple" where there are some great restaurants, guest houses and markets.

We had lunch at a restaurant called "The Gecko Bar" which had really nice food and was really cheap.

After lunch Susan and I left Gerry to get his washing and explored the area. We returned back to the hotel around 2pm, had a shower then went a walked around the area of the hotel before we had to be back at the hotel to meet the rest of the group to catch the train to Chiang Mai. Because of the traffic in Bangkok we arrived at the train station at about 4.30pm but had to wait 2 hours before boarding, so we were able to buy food, drinks at whatever we needed before our 13hr train ride.

At 6pm we picked up our back packs and boarded the train for Chiang Mai.
