at the river crossing on our way to Phnom Penh

After a night on the night piss I struggled to get out of bed for our early morning start of 7am. Feeling only about 10% I made it down stairs in time to get on the cyclo so we could be taken to the local bus stop, as we are heading to Phomn Penh. Feeling the way I did I was so glad to have my own seat so I could spread out, and with in minutes I was sound asleep.

Waking up with a crook neck and the urge to throw up, I noticed we were now at the border.

We went through immigration on the Vietnam side then handed our passports over to the guide who took them through the Cambodian side so we could go have lunch. Having our first Cambodian food experience, I was hoping that it got better than this. After getting our passports back we hit the road again and arrived at the river crossing, where we saw some strange things. With vans completely packed to the roof of people, vendors selling some questionable foods, cows and pigs wondering around eating scraps. One of the guys on the trip got completely surrounded by so many vendors he struggled to get back to the bus.

The bus and a few other vehicles drove onto the ferry to cross the Mekong. When at the other side there was a group of kids swimming at the other side. After another 2 hrs of driving we finally made it to Phnom Penh. After checking in at the Indochine 2 Hotel, Matt and i went to the internet cafe to book my next trip. After about an hour on the really slow internet, we met the rest of the group at the FCC for a free cocktail before going to dinner at a restaurant which supports and trains kids from an orphanage.

Enjoying our first Cambodian dinner we were entertained by the kids from the orphanage. They sung and danced traditional Khmer songs and dances. After dinner we went to a bar near the hotel called Chivas were we had a night cap or two before hitting the sack.
