Exploring Lake Como and Bellagio

We had to get up at 6:45am to get ready eat and head out to Villa Carlotta. It was about a 50 minute bus ride through the mountains.

Villa Carlotta was very beautifull. There were great botanical gardens that went on and on. We explored them as much as we had time for. But still needed to head into the actual Villa. The rooms are decorated as they would have been many years ago. The ceilings were very impressive to see the painting detail work. They looked 3D.  You couldn't take pictures inside the Villa so I just have my memories.

After the Villa we boreded our boat and took an hour long boat ride around the lake the scene was amazing seeing all the houses and Villas atop the mountains. Unfortunately we didn't get to see George Clooney's Villa.

Lake Como!
All of the girls were quite disappointed.

We then arrived at Bellagio. It was really lovely. The many little shops in the side of a mountain basically. But they were all so quaint and nice. We ate at an outside restaurant while infront of the lake watching the birds and boats and just enjoying the view. The shops were very pricey. Even more so for someone using the American Dollar! Everything is expensive to me in Europe then throw in the higher prices. So I only bought Gellato haha. Oh and some postcards!

After walking around Bellagio for a few hours we caught our boat back to the main land and headed back to the hotel.

We then met back up later in the night for dinner. This was one of the best things we did. Which I didn't read about it in any of the books I have on Italy.

Villa Carlotta
But we took a Funicular (for those that don't know what that it is, its an inclosed type tram that goes straight up the side of the mountian. Kind of the same idea as a skilift but much bigger an enclosed) up to the top of the highest mountain for dinner. It was a great amazing view.  We then had a five course meal with all the wine you can drink! They also had a small bar type restaurant down below for those not wanting a huge 5 course meal. But it was nice this is when you finally started forming bonds and getting to know the people you are on tour with.

My friend and I were lucky we fund two single females that traveled alone. So we became the four-some group. The four single girls. I was the youngest at 28 then the oldest was 36. So you know we had a blast that entire trip!!

So after much flowing red vino we headed back down the mountain.

Villa Carlotta again
Ohh our tour bus driver knew we were all pretty buzzed he was blasting music on the bus. It was a great night. We also got very lucky in the fact that even though our tour group age range from probably 25-75 almost every one in the group was fun with tons of energy and kept the vino flowing the whole trip.

But I highly recommend doing this dinner if you are there and have a chance you can see the entire Lake Como and the food was really great too. Apparently there are a few funiculars you can take from what I read online.

But after singing and laughing the entire bus ride back to the hotel we retired to bed for our early morning wake up call.
