Sleeping in the wild again...

Today was the day that we had to take the tents etc with us for the night, because we stayed on a kind of iceland... The plan was that we had a hour drive to a place by the water. African people piced us up from there with a woodboot, called the Mokoro....It is the best way to use for a trip in to the Okavango Delta! I had a guide and I sat in the Mokoro with my roomy... It took us two hours to get there were we spend the night as group, our guide and 10 African people who lived here in the Delta in Botswana.... I remember again it was sooooo hot that day, sooo I used the water in the Delta to cool me down.... Suncreen was very importent that day, because we were most of the time low on the water with the woodboot.

Aaah, in the Okavango Delta
The guide of the Mokoro was standing behind us and had a long stick that he used to get to the place.... We sat relaxed in the water that moment... When we arrived there we sat up the tents and we took the Mokoro to go to the place were we could swim in the open water with out Hippo or crocodiles... The water was clean and we had sooo much fun.. It was hard to get there with the Mokoro... One of my group tryed to use the boot and he did ok..., but we fall almost a few times in the vwater... I was realy glad that I did not had my camera with me.... Afther a hour we went back and I did some relaxing and talking with the African people.... Were we were was life from wild animals.... scary, but we had the people who know the place with us... It was 43C that day and I sat all the time out the sun.
Looks great!
... Our Tourguide made late lunch for us and afther that I relaxed a litle....

At 4 PM we went on a gamedrive with the local people from there! To get there we had to go on the Mokoro boot... This time we went over a big waterplace were we saw Hippo,s... It was great to see them that close, but not for long... I heard from the tourguide from Zimbabwe when we did the Rhinotrip, that the hippo is the most dangerous animal in Africa... People are not safe close to the hippo... He said also 'The hippo can stay under water like 6 minutes.... The hippo is mad when he is open his month and make a terrible grrrrrrr nouse...... " That happend that evening... " Ooooh my god... I thought... The Mokoro guides were laughing and talking Africans.... The stayed, but moved very quick and we were on land real sooon.

Guide made this for me... Love leli
I was realy scared that moment...

The Safari...and the hippo moments again

The whole group was split up in two groups with a guide! Oooh, me in the midle of nowere, in the wild...The men was saying that out here we can find the big 5, but the lion is hard and the leopard... We say the big 5 already in the Krugerpark... It was realy interessthing the way he talked... He talked about footprints and the poo of animals... He knew a lot of the Delta... We saw a bock jumping around very close and it was great.. We saw a Elefant and we saw more animals that moment... Afther the walking gamedrive we went back to the Mokoro... I was scard allready, because I knew we had to go back to the same open waterspot were we met the two hippo,s.

.. Afther 5 minutes we were there and YES.... I swa them again and the Guides were acting strange.. Laughing and talking and stopped... He said "Do you want to make pictures" The hippo went under water and came up a minute later with again his month open and a loud grrrrrrrr sound..... I knew also that those animal will kill you and that they are fast, even in the water.... I said to the Guide "why are we not moving I want to get out of here" The guide want to move to and said that he was scared two...

My Roomy was also not happy and want to go to... We saw the hippo came closer and he went under... We realy had to go now.... The hippo was a around 5 meters from the Mokoro one moment..... The Mokoro guide went faster and before we knew we were not on the open waterfront anymore, but more in the high grass.

.. I heard the load GRRRRR sound stil, but the guide said that the risk is small that you will find him in the high grass... He told us that a friend of him was killed a year ago during the Mokoro trip with out tourists... ...Oooh.. that is realy sad... Afther 10 minutes we arrived at camp and my tourguide swa me and I looked white... I told here the adventure.... Afther that we had diner and sat at the campfire with noises of animals in the background... Later on I went to bed... There was a nother gamedrive plamnned at the same spot... I asked if we are going to the open waterplace and they said yes... I cancled that gamedrive, because the hippo and I was not feeling good AND I wanted to use that time to sleep in for a change!
