After 365 days as a TB, here is the balance... :)
September 25, 2008
It seemed to be yesterday when I joined this site. It's still difficult for me (don't know about the rest, but I guess it's much more complicated for them) to believe how committed / addicted to this site I am. No complains at all about this addiction. I enjoy it!!!
How did I join this site? Well, I was browsing on Facebook and saw one little cute map. I wanted one too, just clicked and that was the beginning of this endless and full of fun adventure. At the beginning I was thinking I joined the site too late, since I did my "biggest" trips before becoming a TB. Oh well! let's give it a try! The whole community was so friendly since the beginning, but what made all my doubts went away was meeting my 1st TB in real life not even 1 week after joining the site!!! Since this moment I couldn't stop wanting to meet people and helping them to discover and like my hometown and country. Mario, my friend, you created the monster! This was such a great experience, that I don't want to stop. Never!!!!
As a TB I have kept on traveling, maybe not as far as before, but this is just in person because while I was meeting a TB in Lima, I was learning about a different culture. I've met people from different cultures, countries and from all the continents! Well, I'm just missing someone from Antartica... The TB's - friends - I met have said I helped them, but the fact is they helped me too knowing more about the world: our common house! Thank you, all!!!! But I can't forget everything started meeting these amazing guys online! I'm glad I can say I have a network which is growing daily and I hope I'd be able to meet most of them, here in my hometown or anywhere in the world.
Being a TB is my secret identity, haha. Not so secret actually, since my office at home became the HQ, with pictures of all the TB's I met hanging on the walls. Also Gunther - my dog - became a TB dog too, haha. Choosing a memorable experience is impossible, there are so many. Maybe not everyone was the happiest, but wouldn't the life be boring if everything were 100% perfect? We need a bit of action in our lives ;)
This year has been wonderful! I met such amazing people around the world. People might say I'm crazy for enjoying TB so much, but if this is being crazy: I love to be crazy!!!
Ok, here is the balance so far:
Mini Meet Ups: 87
Meet Ups : 2 - 1 as attendant & 1 as hostess (I loved the experience)
Friends : can't count them all :)
