Day 7 Shanghai

"Impossible is Nothing"
Nanjing Road and Fuzhou Road are two shopping streets in the Huangpu districts. Nanjing Road is the vintage shopping street, where products of past eras can be found. It is the oldest shopping street in Shanghai. Nowadays it thrives on selling nostalgic thingys in thrift stores with great deals. In early mornings, employees will come out to the street and stretch (in groups!).

Fuzhou Road for some reason is filled with art supplies stores, now that's my kind of shopping! They're not bad quality either! There got to be a major art or design school somewhere close...

The only downside today is that we also discovered the worst tea shop ever! My cousin and I were thirsty after all that shopping (Shanghai in June? Boiling hot!), so we decided to have some tea. The place was really empty, but still, the service was slow. One glass of tea is $60 Renmingbi, which is about $9 USD! Insane price, even in the US bubble tea doesn't cost that much. We were too tired to go out and hunt for another tea shop, so we ordered anyway. First, one of the tea came hot, while we assumed it was cold. We asked to change it, and the waitress refused, claiming that there is no option. The taste of both glasses of tea were so bad, we didn't even want to finish them. It's very watery and gross...what a shame I did not write down the name of the tea shop to write a review of it, but I'm sure it must have bankrupted a long time ago.

Try to dig up history as you shop for the latest fashion...
Well known as one of the world's busiest pedestrian shopping street, but also one of the oldest's commercial street of Shanghai. Go early morning to see if you can catch a morning stretch workout of the employees, or look for old school products sold in unexpected stores, like "White Rabbit Creamy Candy" (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rabbit_Creamy_Candy), a candy with rich creamy history associated with the City.
