Beaches of Broome, Cable Beach

Well there is not a lot to sightsee in Broome except...CABLE BEACH. It is a nice long clean beach of fine white sand and large tide. When the tide is out you just about need to pack a lunch to hike down to the water...and there is NO shade at all except on the dunes above the beach. So I wandered down first thing in the morning and had the place to myself...oh and the shark that I mistook for seaweed rolling in the wavelets towards me. YIKES! Got out of the water pretty quick.  Was a bit overcast and humid so after brekkie went into town to check out the shops and museums. Heaps of pearl shops as they farm freshwater pearls at Willie creek near Broome. Saw the pearl museum that had a couple of small old pearl luggers on display. Couldn't go on them tho'. I was not in the pearl aquisition mode so then just walked around in and out of the other most popular shop which was Souvenir shops. Was getting fairly hot by now so went back to accomodation to rest up for the GRAND cable beach sunset viewing.

The sunset was lovely but it got pretty crowded down at the beach what with camels, 4WDs, cars, motorbikes, bicycles, every tourist in town, locals and their dogs.....all driving and walking all over the beach! Found a place to eat...(Cable Beach has no cheap joints)aaaaand back to room. I was looking forward to a swim in the pool but bad luck...the pool needs repairs and all that cool water is running down the gutters for the 2 days I ws in Broome.
