Arrival in Buenos Aires
August 27, 2008
I arrived into BA and took the cheap shuttle to another bus station and then was transferred to a car ride that brought me literally to the doorstep of Yira Yira guesthouse. I'm to stay 3 nights, find an apartment for a month and move in. There are no other guests and the owner Paz, smokes as often as she breathes and I ask if she could open a window? or not smoke inside? I dont know but its bad. The weather is chilly so I see why the windows are closed but I can smell its been a long winter in this house.
I'm moved into a bigger room with two twin beds pushed together, for the same price. I'm glad as it doesn't have the street noise of the first room and I end up using that room as more of an office. There is a mac computer here for guests to use with wonderful reliable internet. The maid, Lorena, is 18 from Uruguay and I quickly learn that someone is always here and I must ask to be let in or out. Hmm.
