One of the most beautiful beaches of the world!

Flamenco Beach

Culebra is a small island located 20 miles east Puerto Rico (main island). It's part of Puerto Rico.  To go to Culebra Island you have either to take a ferry from Fajardo (which is 45 minutes east San Juan) or you can fly Fajardo-Culebra.  Ferry takes aprox. 1.5 hr to get there and cost USD $4.50 round trip. Flying from Fajardo to Culebra is USD$30.00 aprox. one way.  If you dont want to drive from San Juan to Fajardo, you can fly from San Juan- Culebra for USD$110.00 aprox.  Culebra is a small island: 7X4 miles and has aprox. 3,000 residents.  Once you arrive to Culebra by Ferry or plane, you can take a "publico" (a public van) that will take you to Flamenco Beach for $2.00 one way. There are many places to stay and eat.
You can also rent a scooter, a car or a jeep, but having transportation for only $2.00 I dont think its worth it to rent a car for almost $50.00 a day when you are going to spend most part of the day at the beach. Night life is not good.  It's an Island to relax! There are not big clubs, bars etc, but you still will find small places with music at night, just dont expect too much from night life.  Puerto Rico is a territory of United States, official languages are both: English and Spanish.  Currency US dollar, so you dont have to worry about money exchange.  Culebra is a litlte bit expensive because everything is brought by boat from the main island of Puerto Rico, but I rather to buy everything there than bringing all I need from San Juan. (I like to travel light). Once you get to Flamenco Beach, I recommend you to TURN OFF your cell phone and just enjoy the beauty you have at that time.  Flamenco is not a nude or clothing optional beach, but you will feel in your own private beach.  Puerto Rico's weather is all year round hot.  I do not recommend you to go to Culebra on June, July, spring break or long weekends, you have the whole year to go there, why you wanna go when the island is full of people??  Enjoy Culebra!
