Arriving in England
We arrived at the airport at 12:30 to begin our full day journey of traveling. We first flew to Minneapolis. I only slept about 1 hour on that flight, which is unusual for me. I hopped to sleep quite a bit more since I stayed up late the night before drinking. Our next flight was 7 hours to Amsterdam. I didn’t sleep a wink the entire time! It was awful. I’m usually amazing at sleeping anywhere, anytime. At least our plane ride was actually okay. We flew northwest and they had this great entertainment system, each seat had its own screen and remote. You could choose from games, music, TV & movies. I watched two moves in a row, both were decent. Then dinner came which was surprisingly good for an airplane meal. Still tasted like plane food, but better than usual. I ate it all!
After our 7 hour flight we had to transfer one more time to fly to Bristol, UK.
I finally slept on that flight but it was a quick hour flight. Customs was pretty busy and not a very effective way to get hundreds of us through the system. We made it though and we were happy to see our luggage waiting for us.The process of getting to our B&B in Bath was a bit tricky. Things weren’t very tourist friendly which was surprising. I asked some fellow standing next to me in this bus line we hoped was the correct one. He assured me it was the correct bus and which stop to get off on and how to take the train to Bath. He was very helpful. It was £6 to get to the train station, quite expensive. Things seem to be very expensive here compared to the States. Yes our exchange rate is poor but prices of things here compared to what they would be in the States are so much higher.
We sat in Carriage A and after we got moving and once we heard the announcer we realized we were in the 1st class carriage. Oops. We thought to move but decided moving our luggage would be such a hassle and the train hardly had anyone on it. No one came to tell us to move and it was only a quick 10 minute ride, so we just stayed.
Our B&B was a only 2 blocks form the train station. We’re staying at the Anabelle’s B&B on Manvers Street. The fellow that checked us in was goofy, very cute and polite. Our room was on the 3rd floor and en-suite, small but not as small as I expected.
There is some huge construction going on directly behind the B&B. It’s this monstrous hole full of mud since there has been so much rain. It’s pretty loud but not too bad. I can sleep through it. They’re apparently building a shopping center. After taking a quick, wonderful nap we headed down to the streets to take a look around since it was early in the day. It’s odd we left Boise at 1:30pm on Sep 7 and arrived in Bath on Sep 8 at 1:30. So we lost a day and a lot of sleep.
We went down and saw that many things were starting to close. We scoped out things to do tomorrow. We saw the main abbey, the bridge with stores built on it; one of the two in the world.
We found this cute little place to have dinner right on the river. The food was great, amazing actually. I also tried the cider everyone says we have to try. I thought it tasted like watered down flat beer. Not very enjoyable. We walked around a bit more after dinner. It is astonishing how much history they have here and how well things were built without electrical tools. Beautifully done hundreds of years ago. Still looks the same today. Just with a bunch of moss on it.
We headed in for the night at about 8pm. I was ready for bed, exhausted. Maybe next time I won’t stay up so late the night before drinking.
The location of the B&B was very ideal as well, a which walk to many things; the Abbey, the Roman Baths, the river, etc. Also one block from the train station!
I would stay here again.

They accept credit cards too which is handy.
