A short break: visiting Lourdes to see the holy grotto
September 11, 2008
Well... as i saw on my map... i couldnt resist visiting lourdes, a 2 hour drive away. I have seen a lot of temples and holy places in asia so i thought... i might visit one in europe.
Lourdes is a combination of commercial trade and crowds... with... a real and pure atmosphere. There certainly is some 'energy' hanging and it is up to your selves what sensation you will enjoy there i think... For me it was beautifull to see and yes... i saw some things i did not like (people smashing jerry cans because they did not have any patience waiting anymore..., candles being offered but after turning around people from the place immediately stop them burning and melting them to new candles to be sold... like the reselling of offered flowers in india...) but also experienced a lot of happiness with disabled or old people feeling happy to experience the peace of Maria in that place.
every night there is a big procession! This night i think i was extra crowded because of the pope visiting Lourders the next day. I enjoyed lourdes a lot as well as its city camping (camping du poste)! A very tiny camping in the middle of the town!! I met some nice german people who arrived from perpignan what i planned to visit!
