Dunedin has got a beautiful old railway station, where we departed from at 9 o'clock in the morning. The train then passes by Green Island, Fairfield and Mosgiel to meet up with the Taieri River. The track's got lovely tunnels and viaducts, and we had a beautiful day on the train, so excellent weather for making lots of pictures.
Eleven of our family were on the train, we had an excellent time eating and drinking all the stuff that we had packed with us.
On one of the viaducts we were allowed to get off the train, walk across the viaduct and then film the train coming across from the other side. Amazing!
After 1.5 hours we arrived at Pukerangi station, it's not actually a station, more like shed!, the engine switched to the other side and got us back again.
On the Thursday we did a bit of touring around Dunedin, we went to St Clair Beach, Brighton (both great beaches for surfing!), then to Taieri Mouth (where the Taieri river heads into the Pacific). From there we went to Lake Waihola (where you normally can make nice pictures sitting on a tree above the water, but this time it was so windy that Lake Waihola wasn't much fun!)
So that was that, off we were on Friday morning, long drive to Te Anau where we would stay for the weekend.
