Off to the Mount!
Monday morning, ready to leave Auckland and head out to Tauranga, Mount Maunganui. Passed by so many beautiful places, would take you ages if you'd stop at every point.
Plan was to leave Auckland and visit Mount Maunganui and after that head down to Taupo or National Park, to make the second day of travelling a bit shorter.
Around 12 we drove by a sign that said ' Omokoroa Beach', we thought it might be a good idea to have lunch there. And how great it was. Awesome great houses they have there along the coast, with only the bay and Matakana Island in between with the ocean. From there we could already seethe point that we were going: Mount Maunganui. This is an about 340m vulcanic cone sticking out of the peninsula.
Before we reached the mount we got to a place called Bethlehem. Unfortunately, we were unable to find a barn....
We got at Mt Maunganui about 50 minutes after we had lunch, had a look around from the bay, and then went up the mountain. It was like a 30 mins walk up there, with very steep parts where you'd almost slip. And it was bloddy hot, we were sweating our pants off! The weather was great (has been great since we arrived) so we had a clear view on the surroundings.
As it was quite early we decided that we might stay in Taupo for the night, as we knew a nice motel where we've already been on our earlier 2 visits. Then from there on we could travel trough to my uncle's place in Palmerston North on Tuesday.
