Burra Town Hall
Today we took our time cruising through the Clare Valley and stopping at as many wineries as we could handle!  By the 5th winery, Gay and I were ready for bed! I just passed out in the car instead! Our destination was the historical mining town of Burra.  Burra has a history of copper mining and as a treat we stayed in one of the old miners cottages.  The cottage was lovely except it was freezing cold and our heating was a large open fire place and an electric space heater. Thank God we had electric blankets!

We got there in the afternoon so after settling into the cottage, we went to the visitors centre and got ourselves a Burra Heritage Passport which gave us access to the 8 locked heritage sites around the town.  There are 49 historical sites in total, we didn't have time to visit them all in the next couple of days but we got through a fair few of them.  So that afternoon we visited a few places around town and went out to the old copper mining site.

In the evening we tried one of Burra's many pubs for a meal and was reluctant to leave to go back to a cold cottage!  When we did go back we lit the fire and huddled around it! I thought I hope it's warmer than this at Wilpena Pound because the next few days was going to be spent in a tent.
