Heading Towards Yosemite

State Park Campground Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

Ever thought about taking a month off, and driving coast to coast? In the summer of 2006 we got to do just that! We traveled from Connecticut to the Pacific and back, visiting as many National Parks and Attractions as we could, tent camping along the way. Here is our story!

Heading Towards Yosemite

Our camp by the lake

It was getting dark by the time we left San Francisco, so we hit the road and headed off to our next destination, Yosemite National Park.  We were worried about finding a campground, since it was getting so late at night and such a popular park, we were afraid everyone would be full up on a Saturday night.   We were lucky to find a state park that offered camping on a small lake.  It was pretty full, but we managed to find a nice spot right on the water.  We had some odd neighbors- they borrowed my hatchet, they borrowed Advil, then they even asked me to show them how to start a campfire!  You could tell they weren't regular campers, they were just there to hang out and drink and play cards. They had a nice dog, though.  It was far from any city, so you could see a lot of stars on this dark night...no light pollution!  Once again, Tyler had fallen asleep in the truck, so we just left him there!
