Ever thought about taking a month off, and driving coast to coast? In the summer of 2006 we got to do just that! We traveled from Connecticut to the Pacific and back, visiting as many National Parks and Attractions as we could, tent camping along the way. Here is our story!

Traveling West

Sunset after the storm
Our next destination is the Badlands of South Dakota, which will be our first National Park. Too far to get to tonight, so we will go as far as we can go from here.  Caught a nice sunset after the rain stopped, and drove into the night to New Lisbon, Wisconsin, about halfway across the state. We stopped around 10:30 PM and camped in an isolated, almost empty RV park behind a BP gas station. ( We had brought a copy of Woodall's Campground Directory, which lists all the campgrounds in the US and Canada, along with prices, amenities, addresses and phone numbers. Very handy on a trip like this!)  It was so far out in the country, there was no light pollution and you could see all the stars.  Set up tents and right to bed, we have a lot more driving tomorrow!
