For those of you visiting Atlanta, I just wanted to list a few of my favorite places to go... I'm a little biased to the Midtown area because it's closer to home and not so far of a drive, so keep that in mind. Coffee shops: Octane (open til 12)- Midtown; Caribou Coffee (open til 12)- Midtown (and other areas); San Francisco Coffee- there are 2 in Virginia Highlands; Java Monkey- Decatur; Aurora Cafe- If you love music, this place has tons of CDs to try out, Virginia Highlands; Wine: Vino- virginia highlands; Murphy's- virginia highlands, wine nights on Tuesdays; The Grape; Eno- midtown; Breakfast: FLYING BISCUIT!!- grant park, midtown, there's also one up 75 a few exits, best biscuit in town- with excellent cranapple butter, some amazing oatmeal pancakes, the one in midtown is right next to peidmont park for a nice walk/run(before eating of course); Rita's Bluebird- awesome pancakes; R. Thomas- Buckhead, open 24/7- this place isn't just breakfast, I just love their omelets. It's really hippy-like and health food oriented, and I LOVE IT!; Sweet Melissa's- Decatur, some awesome yogurt pancakes; Restaurant's: Expensive: Brio- buckhead. Italian; Murphy's- one of my favs- virginia highland's- try the tollhouse dessert, i forget the exact name; Sycamore Grill- stone mountain- a little ways out of the city, but some awesome southern cooking. Sweet potato french fries, fried green tomatoes, angel food pound cake, key lime pie... you name it; Eno-midtown; Mid-range: Fritti- some of the best pizza around, E atlanta?; Café Intermezzo- great place, buckhead, good for drinks and dessert, a long list of both (the drink menu is longer than the food menu i think); California Pizza Kitchen- it's a chain, but i love it; Fuego- tapas bar, midtown; Pura Vida- tapas bar, Virginia Highlands; Einstein's-midtown; Lower prices: Papi's- Cuban sandwiches and some awesome fruit smoothies; Jimmy John's- midtown, sandwiches; Willy's- mexican; Eats- Midtown- cheaper, large plates, used to only take cash, but that may have changed; Little Azio's- italian, 2 in midtown, but im pretty sure they have other locations; Parks- I love running and biking... Silver Comet- awesome for a long bike ride; Chattahoochee River has some parks; Stone Mountain- you should see stone mountain if you're in atlanta one way or another, but it has TONS of trails, good for long runs; Piedmont if you're in the downtown area; Shopping: you can't beat Lenox/ Phipp's Plaza for malls, but they're pretty expensive; Trendy boutiques- virginia highlands, decatur has some, buckhead obviously; Atlantic Station is good for an afternoon and lunch I'm not a big shopper so I can't help much here... Random: Café Istanbul- hookah bar I will try to add some more stuff in here later, but this should be a good start!
