03:30 AM: Touched down in Tel Aviv. Very modern airport. Very easy to go through customs and immigration. Looked at luggage and found it very badly damaged---even broke off wheel. (Note: Ended up buying new suitcase a few days later).
04:00 AM Got 400 NIS (Approx. $90) from ATM, was planning to stay at airport for at least till 5:00 AM, but decided to catch ride into town. Decided to take share taxi.
Took shared taxi for 45 NIS (as advertised in book), with approx. 10 people. Looked outside but alas too dark to see anything.
05:30 AM Dropped off at hotel---one of the last ones. Have to wait at least 2 hrs since hotel does not open till 8:00 AM. Decided to go to coffee shop. Meet two men who I was in the van with and where on the same flight.
07:45 AM Went and waited outside hotel.
08:00 AM Hotel opened, and told room was not ready till noon but did not care. Just changed sweater and then off I went.
08:30 AM Found Jaffa Gate. Saw the Dome of the Rock. Went to Wailing Wall and participated in Mar Mizarh. It was nice day. Surprised about the amount of soldiers there. Gave money to two Jewish guys—wanted money for his church. Felt as though everyone wanted money. Went to the tourist office and found information about Church. Pretty hard to find since signs were covered. Took tons of pictures. Tried to find entrance to Dome of the Rock, but got lost. Tried several times. Gave up. Brought coke for $2/bottle---got stiffed---but I know better for later.
Went back to hotel and rested for 2 hrs—very tired with two overnight flights. Emailed Tour Company that I had to postpone tour. Just too tired---3 Red Eye flights had taken its toll.
