I heard that there was a TB meet up planned on the same day as my birthday so what better excuse could I possibly have for heading over....

A chilled out Sunday.....NOT!!!

Today I was checking out of Mandalay Bay and into the Bellagio. Wendy had an early afternoon flight back to OC so we parted at the taxi stand at around 11am. Despite me getting to the Bellagio 3 hours before the normal check in time there were no problems at all getting a room. I got a room on the 14th floor overlooking the fountains. There is a higher rate for the view but in my opinion, well worth it.

After settling in a little bit I hit the strip for lunch a bit of shopping. I had arranged to meet Melanie and Erin in the afternoon to go and see a football game and then to a piano bar. Well that was the plan anyway. I got a text from Wendy saying her flight was delayed an hour. A while later, as I was walking round the Forum Shops, I got a call from her saying that her flight had been cancelled! The airline had put her up in a Travelodge but I wasn't having that.

I told her to meet me back at my place and so I went back to wait for her. She eventually arrived at my hotel at around 6 after having to wait for her bags. We were both a little hungry by now so ended up having dinner at Trevi in the Forum Shops. Neither of us could finish our meals because we were both tired and the portions were HUGE! On the way back through the lobby at Caesars we noticed a lot of people wearing the same cowboy hats. That must mean they're free! We found out that it was Mexican independence day and if you bought a margarita from a stand outside you got a free had. So we had our free hats. Both of us were feeling more awake and in the mood for a party. Next on the list though were beads. WE WANT BEADS!!!

We found the beads outside Harrahs. The only problem was that we had to hug a Chippendale to get some. That didn't take too long to negotiate and we had our beads. We found the girls in full swing at the piano bar and we joined right in. Now, I have to confess that I was actually quite drunk at this point thanks to the Uptown Topshelf from Margaritaville so I don't remember everything that happened but I do remember that I had an awesome night and that i laughed a lot.

Worth the extra pennies!
I chose to stay at the Bellagio for a couple of reasons. The excellent central strip location being one and the other because it's just a nice place.

The moment I stepped into the lobby I was quite overwhelmed by the size of the glass sculpture ceiling and also by the size of the queues for checking in. I was a few hours early but decided to chance it as I had no other option but to wait really. After queuing for about 30 minutes it was finally my turn. The staff were courteous and calm considering how busy it was. After a couple of phone calls to make sure there was a room ready she handed me my key and a map. That's the thing about staying in a casino, all the rooms are way over the other side.

I eventually found the lifts and they were as over the top opulent as you would expect. There are plenty of them as well so never had to wait very long.

I had a lake view room on the 14th floor. These rooms are a little more expensive but once you clap eyes on the view you tend to forget about this. The floor to ceiling windows make for an absolutely breathtaking view of the strip. And of course, the fountains! I will never tire of watching them.

The room in itself is quite large, 510 sq ft according to the website. Comfy bed, lots of big chairs, a desk, mini bar and a huge wardrobe unit. The bathroom too was a nice size with a tub and separate shower. One of my favourite little touches is the automatic drapes with buttons next to the bed. I stayed for 3 nights and loved every minute. I would absolutely recommend a stay here and will most probably stay there next time I'm in Vegas.
