Well, this is definitely a first for me… waking up in the same room as an American, a Fin and in the same bed as a Greek man! “Yelp!”  I think I’d better get me showered and down to breakfast quick!  I don’t think there are any questionable stories behind these circumstances?  In fact Mehmet (Dieforu) was the only one out partying the night away last night so a fairly sensible room all told.

I have a pleasant morning breakfast with my pal Patricia (pms70) laid on by the Golden Tulip hotel and then we decide to go for a brief stroll into town in the morning sunlight whilst the various other fragments of TB flotsam and jetsam wake up and scrape themselves back together ready for day 2 of the Meetup.

Some of the gang (as I try not to pass out!)

I am greatly thrilled upon later congregating in the hotel lobby to see we have some new TB peoples come to swell our numbers for the day, especially Keiko (KeikoCreative) whom I’ve had some prior chats with through TB and who recently visited my stomping ground of Brighton, England.

The day is another great success thanks to all Anna’s efforts.  We have a stroll through town to a lovely canal side restaurant where a large lunch has been arranged for us.  Some traditional Dutch food etc... Everyone is happy and all float around firing of camera shots wherever you turn… nope the TB gang are DEFINITELY NOT camera shy!

After lunch is a further stroll through the increasingly scorching sun.

Patricia quick on the draw with the camera!
The original plan was to do some form of water-based activity, be it individual row boats or a group boat-barge but the former seems to most a little much on full stomachs and the latter too hard to organise at the last minute so we gladly settle for sitting in the sun with more drinks at a town centre café.  I must confess that it is during this point of the day that for the very first time in my life I’m in danger of passing out from sunstroke.  Never before.  I dunno whether it’s poor liquid intake, the ill-advised choice of wearing jeans and no hat, or a combination of the above but without the many emergency cokes and iced-waters Stevie chucks down his gullet he nearly succumbs to the incredible heat.  No biggy, but the odd state of my head makes conversation with all the new and vibrant personalities even more challenging concentration wise than it otherwise would have been!  Sorry gang :(

And then it’s all over sadly.

A parting of the ways and a dissipating of the main part of the group in their various directions home.  It has been a wonderful weekend with beautiful people and weather.  Many new friends have been forged and I am very lucky to have been invited to travel a little further north into the Netherlands to a town called Meppel where Patricia and her family live, an invitation I’m very happy to accept :)  There are hugs all round and more superlative and loud karaoke singing from Jo (bluesilver84) before Patricia, Wendy (wendyveer) and I head off to catch the train as Wendy’s heading our way too.

Thank you again Anna for all your hard work and efforts on this hugely successful TB weekend! x
