'AAA Rated' my a--e
Basically today was just a transit day with a heavy dose of screaming kids. I hate kids on planes and today just made that more evident; they were everywhere. Thankfully, Perth>Melbourne is only 3 hours or there abouts. Anyway, that's a pet peeve, so enough about that for now.
Brother-in-law picked us at the airport and took us to his place until the city traffic died down. He lives in Abbotsford, next to Collingwood's old ground, and we'll be staying there next week. This weekend though, we're in at 'Oaks on Collins' in the city.
We booked a taxi to get into Melbourne since Clint was off out for dinner with friends. No sooner had he put the phone down that it turned up. A far sight different to the 25 minutes, if you get a taxi at all, in Perth. Anyway, we were driven to our apartment, and after getting a quick tutorial on the primitive application of the 'hook turn', we jumped ship and checked-in. No problems with the booking I made, so a big tick for wotif.com.
Oaks on Collins is alright... Not 4.5 star as listed, in my opinion. A lot smaller than the images I had seen. Interesting design features with the bathroom, but unfortunately, no practicality whatsoever. In summary... 3.5 stars, tops.
A little peckish at the stage, so I took off to track some goods down. I picked a direction and came across a little pizza place that was open. Got a couple of slices and came home home to much on the purchases. Pretty tasty at a bargain price.
Tomorrow will be a familiarisation day... we'll see where it takes us.
For those of you curious about making a booking through wotif.com, then don't be afraid. I used them to book a few nights here in Melbourne and had no problems.
Booking fee is around $3.50 (3.45 I think), which was cheaper than a few of the other websites operating. And the room rates were very competitive.
