Relaxation, reservations, and 'what-ifs'
A day of recovery from the ardurious task of yesterday.
I am honestly still glowing from it all; the orangutans coupled with the rockoy outcrop that is Mt Kinabalu certainly made me think a little deeper about aspects of life. I love nature and have a deep respect for all animals; and if I can help them survive the human plague through monetary assistance, then even better. I am reminded of the wildlife advertising with Sam Neill about the number of species on the planet and the only reason humans are here is to ensure the survival of all others... Why are we as a whole failing so miserably?
The other thing I love is the challenge that nature presents; rock-climbing and mountains are the two aspects of this that are most special to me. Man has always been curious, and I am no exception.
I'm curious of my limits when it comes to defying gravity and curious of what world looks like from different angles.Unfortunately, with the nature of this trip being a honeymoon, relaxation is the prime order of the day... So Mt Kinabalu, as appetising as it is, must wait before I am to set foot on her.
The wait won't be long... I'm sure of that.
So, with these things flying through my head as we laze around the pool, we decide with Kev and Nat to book an island-hopping trip and head on down to 'Beach Bums'.
We went with the '5 Island' option - which lets us take in Sapi, Manukan, Mamutik, Gaya, and Sulung.
Copious quantities of snorkelling should follow... good job we brought our masks at least... didn't pack the fins this time though, so loaners will be needed.
Today is also Chinese New Year. The hotel has a lion dance and other things going on. A nice spectacle.
In essence though, today is tan-orientated... so watching from the pool is mostly what we do, although I managed to get a few rounds of golf in there somewhere.
