From Perth to Kota Kinabalu: Lock-up those brakes
Flying with Royal Brunei for our maiden voyage.
Nice.
I think it probably had something to do with us being good friends with our travel agent, but for some inexplicable reason we were bumped for the flight... Those big, cushy, seats with so much legroom you don't know what to do with became out home for the leg to Brunei.
Loved every minute of having the business class seat under my toosh :D
Switched planes in Brunei and took off for KK.
Pretty much one of those up-and-down kind of flights where you're descending before you even reach cruising altitude. A word to the wise... KK airport is something special.
The runway must be exceedingly short because as soon as you touch tarmac the reverse is hit fully and you're virtually headbutting the guy in front.
Good fun.
In Malaysian Borneo, I would never had thought that Korean would come in handy. But alas.. it did. There is a lack of English signage leading to Immigration and the only sign I could see was Korean. Virtually everyone on the plane walked right by the sharp bend the Korean sign said to take and that meant we were at the head of the queue... Bonus :D
A short bus trip through the streets. We take in the sights, the smells, and sounds. I see some guys playing football near our hotel and figure that if I get the chance and they're there later in the week, I'll try to get involved.
Our home for the next week or so is Shangri-Las Tanjung Aru... A little beyond my usual standards, but being an apparent special occasion, I figure it's ok to bend the rules every now and again.
The place is expansive... nice pools, pitch&putt golf course, private beach, great gym. I think I'll feel at home here ;)
