The day of gelato

Ciao from Florence, Italy!!! I have not had internet access until now...the trip was pretty amazing so far!!! I will update more when I have more internet time, but I'll do some highlights.
Cairo was a surprise for me...I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. I rode a camel at the pyramids, which was one of the funniest and scariest moments of the trip! Another other funny/scary moment was in Cairo, when our tour representative said to us at the airport, "Give me $40 and your passports" and then disappeared (but then she came back with our visa stamps). I definitely want to go back to Egypt someday. I never thought I would say that, but that's one of the best things about travel.
Mykonos and Santorini were everything I expected and more...I fell in love with both places. Oia in Santorini is so beautiful...and Sunset Taverna in Ammoudi Harbour (in Oia) is one of the best restaurants I have dined at...it was so worth the 200 or so steps up and down to the harbour! (I do not recommend it when you have had a few drinks however...especially the special drink that has no name). Then it was off to Athens, which I think we should have done at the BEGINNING of our Greece portion of the trip...it was kinda a letdown after the beautiful Cycladic islands!!! We had so many gyros and souvlaki....and now it's all about gelato! Right now we're in Florence but we leave for Cinque Terre tomorrow morning. I walked up to see the sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo today (which I never got to see in my past 2 trips here). It was gorgeous!!
It feels so good to be back in Italy (my favorite country) but I am excited to explore the French Riviera soon! It's hard to believe that we are almost halfway into our trip. I don't want it to end!!! Do I have to come back?
More soon....with pictures...arrivederci!!!
