Socca!
Today I was able to get my socca!!!  FINALLY!!!  It only had to happen on my last day in the French Riviera!  So we walked over to Cours Selaya and hoorah, the Queen of Socca,Thérèse, was there!!!  She's just as glamorous as the painting that is hanging in her Chez Thérèse stall, which looks like it was painted in her prime years :)  Thérèse is supposed to make some of the best socca in Nice.  Socca is a chickpea crepe, and you can put olive oil and pepper on it.  Delicious!   It is made in her kitchen not far away, so you sometimes have to wait for the delivery guy to drop it off to Thérèse's stall.  He comes in a little scooter, and a wagon is attached to it.  Inside the wagon is a big pizza pan which holds the socca.

Once it's gone, you have to wait for the next delivery.  Her socca is so delicious that people don't mind waiting.  It's a
Niçois speciality that you must try when you're in Nice!

We then hopped on the train to Monaco.  I was really excited, as I've idolized Grace Kelly ever since I was a little girl.  My mom, sister, and I are huge fans of Princess Grace!  I remember seeing pictures of her and thinking she was the most glamorous woman I had ever seen.   I would watch her movies as often as I could, and she is definitely my inspiration when it comes to fashion...very classic and feminine.   Monaco is hosting a huge event this summer/fall called "A Celebration of Grace.
"  According to the website, "Covering 43,000 ft² at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, this unique exhibition will immerse visitors in the memories of The Grace Kelly Years as if leafing through a photo album. Personal letters, private belongings, clothing, jewelry and fashion accessories, sound recordings, film excerpts, news reports and much more will showcase Her remarkable life."  I wish I was a millionaire so I could afford to go!!  They are having an exhibit here in NYC at Sotheby's, so I will have to settle for that :)

Anyway, we first went to Monte Carlo to see the casino.
I've always dreamed of going to Monaco!
I wasn't that impressed, I was actually more impressed by all the fancy cars outside of the casino :)   The Monaco Grand Prix was happening in a few days so the principality was getting ready for the big event.

We didn't stay there long and then we walked over to Monaco-Ville to see the Palace.   It's a bit of walk, and then you had to climb all these stairs!!!   We also visited the cathedral to visit Princess Grace and Prince Rainier's tombs, so that was a little sad.   There were also so many boats and yachts in Monaco that you couldn't help but marvel at all of them.

We were getting bored so we decided to go back to Nice.  We decided to take a different route to the hotel from the train station, and of course it was shorter and a whole lot nicer (neighborhood-wise).
I decided to take my daily siesta -- boy, do I miss those!!  That's one of the things I miss most about my trip -- late afternoon siestas!

Dinner was definitely one of the best dining experiences on our trip.  Amazing!!!

It was our last night in Nice, and I was actually quite sad to leave.  We were going to Paris next, so I can't really complain, right?  I had a fantastic time in the French Riviera, and I liked it more than I ever thought I would.   I remember telling one of the locals, "We love it here...we don't want to leave!"  We went to a lot of places on this trip, but the French Riviera definitely ranks high up there in my favorite places.  Au revoir for now..but hopefully not for long!
