Today we had booked a day tour (through Pelican Travel Agency in Santorini) to the volcano, hot springs, Thirassia, and then watch the sunset in Oia.  We got on the bus and then we realized that almost everyone on the bus was speaking German.  We though, oh no, we are on a German tour!!!  Luckily it was just the bus ride to the port, where we then got on the "traditional wooden boat" (as touted in the brochure) and we had a multi-lingual tour guide!  Hoorah!  He could speak Greek, English, French, Spanish, and who knows what else!

Our first stop was to the volcano.  Our guide told us that many people who live in Santorini believe that it's the lost city of Atlantis (you can read all about it here http://www.

We hopped back on the boat to the hot springs of Palea Kameni.  We couldn't dock there so you had to swim to the hot springs.  We were only there for about 20 minutes before we went to the island of Thirassia.

Thirassia was very quaint and we decided to eat at one of the seaside restaurants.  I forgot the name of it, but the owner was so sweet and she was so happy and eager to please her customers.
We had pork souvlaki, calamari, and fried tomato balls.  We just sat there, ate our delicious meal, and enjoyed the view.  It doesn't take much to make us happy!  Supposedly there was a beach in Thirassia but we didn't find it because we had limited time on the island (the worst thing about being on a tour!).

The boat dropped us off at Oia...they didn't tell us that we would have to walk all the way up to the top of the village from the port!!  Michelle and I were both wearing skirts, otherwise we would've taken the donkeys.  So we had to walk all the way up alongside donkeys and their droppings....it smelled so awful!   We walked to the fortress where we staked out a spot to watch the sunset.  It was so beautiful!!
