My first trip out of the United States
September 3, 2005
My boyfriend & I decided to go to Mexico for our vacation/holiday (and my birthday) in 2005. We discussed going to Cancun, but with all of the hurricanes happening, at the time, we decided to go to the furthest side of Mexico. Safety first. Cabo sounded like our best option (sun, sand, ocean, shopping) but we had our reservations -- everyone said that it was a tourist trap. I did some surfing on the internet and found great info, and images, of Cabo solidifying our decision to travel to the area. We booked everything through Apple and were not at all disappointed. The Riu Palace Resort lived up to it's name -- large and palatial (see photos), clean, friendly, excellent food, right on the beach, only a mile from town... But let me just tell you all something -- do NOT go to Cabo in August & September!! Unless you like 100+ degree temperatures and 99% humidity! phew... The only relief from the heat was a dip in one of the two swimming pools, or braving the current in the Gulf of Cortez. My boyfriend braved the undertow and swam in the gulf while I chose to wade just outside it's reach while taking photographs. We also decided to take a glass bottom boat tour to keep cool on on of the days. Going out on the Pacific Ocean was amazing and I have posted photos of that as well. Seeing El Arco at the "end of the world" was worth the trip.
