day at sea

Just returned to the cabin from breakfast, and today will be a quiet one, at least through the morning.  We’re at sea all day headed for Athens, Greece.  It’s overcast and we’re still in the same deep blue waters (tried to make a couple of photos off the stern where the wake is combining air into the water making the color a bit lighter).  Staying close enough to the eastern European continent to see land on the port side, but there’s nothing but water on the starboard side.  Not really sure where we are.  It’s overcast today, adding to the stillness of everything " most folks seem to be sleeping late as there are very few of us on deck this morning.

According to the interactive map, we’re just passing the heel of Italy’s boot, although we’re too far out to see it, Albania is clearly visible off the port.  Still overcast and in the lower 70s, it’s breezy and cool out on deck.

The sun finally came out and wow!  Not a cloud in the sky, no land in sight, and the same cobalt water that we’ve been seeing since yesterday morning. Tonight is a ‘formal’ night on the ship which means you’re supposed to be way dressier than any of us are to attend the evening activities.  There’s also a masquerade ball at 10:00 as a celebration of the Venice Carnival.  Suspect we’re going to pass on that and go to bed early to prepare for a long day in Athens tomorrow.
