This was the start to our trip and it was a horribly cold day in Palmerston North. The Desert Road was closed. Our flight to Auckland was at 10.15 am. There was a cool wind in Auckland, but the sun did come out and it was 10°. The flight to Singapore left at 2.20 pm and we arrived in Singapore at 8.45 pm. I had trouble with sinus on landing. 29°. Lovely! Singapore to Dubai left at 23.35. We had to wait an hour on the aircraft before leaving, as three people didn’t arrive and their baggage had to be unloaded off the aircraft. As if we needed another hour on to the flight!
Arrived at 3.00 am and got shuttle to Admiral Plaza Hotel, Dubai.
Had breakfast in hotel around 9ish, then go out for a walk. 42° outside, not acclimatised to the heat yet and both of us weren’t feeling that smart. Came back to the hotel and laid down for a while, then went on a bus tour of the city. Back to the hotel. Out to tea at Indian Restaurant. All the women came out in the evening in all their gorgeous clothes. We noticed that petrol was around 15¢ litre.
Breakfast in the hotel, then walk down town. Weren’t allowed in the Mosque. Went to Souk Market and mum bought a white skirt as she was too hot, then catch “Hop on Hop off” bus around to other side of the Creek, then do an hour ride on a dhow which was lovely. Back to the bus and do the Beach Tour. Back to hotel around 5ish. Out to tea at another restaurant.
Leave hotel at 5.15 am for the airport. Once again sit on aircraft for about an hour while they offload luggage
